Judith & Zeke look forward to welcoming you to Oaklands, their beautiful home.

The house was built of local stone in the middle of the 19th Century.  It is situated near Coniston village centre, overlooking the bowling green and within a short walk of the lake.

We offer a high level of comfort, with spacious rooms overlooking the Coniston Fells.  We have private parking and a large garden for you to while away the summer evenings.

We have two en-suite bedrooms - a double and a twin.  We have a further double and a single bedroom, all fitted with high quality pocket sprung beds.  They are all individually furnished to a high standard with remote control colour TV's, hair dryers, beverage trays and lots of extras to make your stay comfortable.

For the benefit of our guests we have a no smoking policy in the house and regret we are unable to accommodate pets, or children under 10 years.

Breakfast is served in the dining room, where you can start the day with a hearty English breakfast, or a vegetarian alternative if you prefer, followed by toast and Lakeland preserves.

We are happy to prepare a packed lunch with homemade flapjacks or cakes for your day's activities.  We also have bicycles, which can be hired by our guests.

Prices for the year 2003 are £22 - £25 per person per night depending on the room you choose.  We also offer weekly rates and a Special 3 Night Break available from Monday to Thursday.  We are sorry but we are unable to accept credit cards, but do accept travellers cheques and Euros.

The village of Coniston is centrally located for exploring the Lake District, with its wealth of historic houses, visitor attractions and outstanding natural beauty.  Coniston is famous for its association with John Ruskin, the Steam Gondola and more recently Donald Campbell, with his attempt at the World Water Speed Record.

The Cumbrian Way passes through the village and the more energetic could climb the Old Man of Coniston with its splendid view looking as far as the Isle of Man.

Both Judith and Zeke have lived in the area all their lives, have a wide local knowledge and would be happy to help you plan your day's activities.  We can also recommend some excellent restaurants and country pubs for your evening meal.
